Basaksehir, which means the city of wheat, is one of the newest areas of Istanbul newly established. The Basaksehir area belonged to the Kucukcekmece region. In 2009, the establishment of the Basaksehir area was announced and its municipality was established and it consists of three main areas:
1 Altınşehir and includes the Sehir and Eketeli residences
2 Kayaşehir
3 Bahcesehir which contains the largest artificial lake in Turkey,
Basaksehir is considered one of the most vital areas on the European side. It is located north of Istanbul, with an area of 104.33 square kilometers, and a population of 353,311 people.
It is considered the most developed in terms of its modern infrastructure and possesses many natural and artificial facilities. It is an area that is most important for it being an emerging area that is very rich in high-end urban projects.
And the Basaksehir district is a very subsidized area by its own municipality
The Basaksehir region is bordered in the north by Şazili Deri Lake, which is the most important storehouse of freshwater that feeds some areas of Istanbul, and to the south is the Marmara Sea.
It is surrounded by Bagcilar, Esenler, Sultan Ghazi, Kucukcekmece, Esenyurt, Avcilar and Arnavutkoy.
Basaksehir is located inside Istanbul, between the new and the old airport, and is also located near the new Istanbul Canal project or the second Bosphorus, which is planned to be one of the largest projects in Turkey, which connects the Black Sea to the Sea of Marmara, which gives an important value to the real estate parallel to the huge Istanbul Canal, and passes Below the central square in Başakşehir, there is a network of tunnel transportation that connects it to all the European and Asian regions of Istanbul,
There is also a metro that starts from Basaksehir and ends in Kirazli, and the metro line facilitates transportation to and from the region.
It is located south of the Basaksehir district, the TEM highway, which is one of the most important rapid transport lines in Istanbul, and the most important E5 and E6 highways and the new third road pass through it.
In Basaksehir, there is a central square surrounded by many areas, cafes and cinemas, as well as the largest botanical garden in Europe, which extends over an area of 368,000 square meters and includes one of the largest natural valleys with a wide biodiversity in the region of Sazilidar and contains an archaeological natural garden at the same time. The area includes another valley called “Valley of Waters.” It is located in the fifth district of Basaksehir, and extends over a distance of 45,723 square meters, with a pedestrian road with a length of 26,000 square metres. In addition, the place contains a number of vital facilities such as: shopping centers, sports clubs, restaurants and cafes, the valley also has a wedding hall and a sports center.
Basaksehir also contains the second largest arena for performances in Istanbul, which is used for many different events throughout the year
Basaksehir contains many shopping complexes, theaters, cinemas, conference and celebration halls,
It also includes facilities for people with special needs, and the huge sports stadium in it is within the Olympiad area, the largest sports stadium and is the main stadium of the Turkish national team
It has a protected forest in the Şamlar area. The forest is characterized by its biodiversity because it contains wild animals and large green spaces for hiking that have been allocated by the municipality of Basaksehir to the residents of the neighborhood, and this forest extends over an area of approximately 50 square kilometers.
The region also has a very modern infrastructure that ranks within the standards of solutions applied in smart cities globally.
There are a number of distinguished universities in Basaksehir that provide services in Turkish, Arabic and English languages, including Ibn Khaldun University and Basaksehir Academy.
There are many treatment centers and hospitals in the region that include professors and experts in all medical branches.
An integrated medical city is being established that ranks among the largest medical cities in the world, and after its opening, it will receive approximately 24,000 visitors per day, and 2,000 facilities, and more than 9,000 employees will work in it to provide treatment services to the residents of the region.
