The Aviation Museum or “Havacılık” was established in 1971, initially in Izmir, and due to the lack of visitors , it was closed and moved to Istanbul in 1985 AD.

The place was originally a military base, but it was converted into a historical aviation museum later run by the Turkish Air Force.

The museum has an area of ​​15,000 square meters, 3,000 square meters of closed space, and 12,000 square meters of open space.

It displays the tools and weapons of the Turkish Air Force since the Ottoman era, as well as the items of important personalities who worked within the Turkish Air Force throughout history.

The contents of the Aviation Museum in Istanbul

The museum includes various warplanes, helicopters, and weapons that were used by the Turkish Air Force, in addition to civil air transport vehicles, and many notes from the history of Turkish aviation.

Inside the museum hall, symbolic images belonging to the Turkish Air Force and medals of great commanders are displayed, as well as bronze medals for some officers and their biographies.

There is also a cinema that shows videos related to the history of aviation and the types of aircraft and their use.
