Istanbul Airport revenues exceed 117 billion euros
According to the statement issued by Mr. Adil Kara Ismailoglu, the Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, that since the date of October 29, 2018, upon the opening of Istanbul Airport, the airport’s shares have increased by nearly €80.7 billion in the Turkish economy, with revenues of 117 billion euros without calculating expenses, and what is striking here is that this airport was built without paying any Turkish lira from the state treasury, where the value of the investments amounted to 10.25 billion euros, and the total rent of 26 billion euros.”
Nearly a million job opportunities
Figures and charts indicate that Istanbul Airport has generated approximately 23.75 billion euros in national income revenues, 51.3 billion euros in the production sector, 4.2 billion euros in exports, has secured job opportunities for about 972 thousand people and has achieved 1.23 billion euros in taxes.

Istanbul Third Airport covers an area of about 76.5 million square meters and contains 6 independent runways, and its construction will be completed before 2023, and is capable of receiving 2,000 aircraft per day and is equipped with a garage that can accommodate 70,000 cars.
As for the first phase, the capacity is about 90 million passengers per year. When construction is completed, the airport will be able to receive 200 million passengers annually, and it will serve 250 airlines and 350 destinations.
The company that built the airport will pay 26 billion euros over a 25-year period, including taxes.
Istanbul Airport Campus and Free Zone:
The architectural approach of the famous Turkish architect Sinan Pasha was followed and the roof was built on an area of 1.3 million square meters and is considered the largest building in the world, and it will include a free zone located on the Bosphorus.
It is worth noting that Istanbul Airport has received a set of international awards, including the “European Center for Architecture and Design” award in 2015 for the design of the control tower, and the passenger building received the design award in the category of future projects and infrastructure from the World Architecture Festival.
